Have you ever wondered how the Vision Groups (sometimes called Committees) work at All Saints? How do we decide what our worship should include, how our buildings could develop, what work we do among children and young people, or whether we need new coffee machines…? In other words, how do we manage and govern our church?
Well the PCC is the main body of people who take responsibility for the running of our church. But we also have seven ‘Vision Groups’, who look at different areas of church life, and report and make proposals to the PCC.
The seven Vision Groups are as follows:
Each of the groups meets every 2/3 months, and then reports to the PCC. Reports are kept in a file in the church office, and also posted on the church website; and anyone is free to read them.
At present we also have a temporary Vision Group whose remit is to plan the 50th year celebrations of our church building next year – a very exciting prospect.
Membership of the various Vision Groups is open to members of All Saints, alongside PCC members. If you’d like to join a group, and contribute to the running of our church at All Saints in any of these areas, please do let the Vicar know; the groups work best when we have a breadth of expertise and experience in each of them.
This group is tasked with ensuring we have an appropriate base for local ministry, which practically means overseeing the maintenance of our buildings to ensure they are properly cared for and are fit for the mission and work of the gospel in the parish. This includes the church, hall, grounds and our house in Thorn Bank.
The Mission Vision group considers how we can show God's love to the world and so they spend their time looking outward to the parish and beyond. This incorporates our outward giving and any opportunities to work with the local community.
There is an Events Committee who meet separately to coordinate our events and fundraising activities.
The aim of this vision group is to assist in developing spiritual and pastoral aspects across the whole age spectrum of the parish.
This group regularly review and renew worship across the week, and look at ways to enhance our worship as a congregation and community.
