All Saints 50th Anniversary celebrations
The celebrations will start with the Bishop of Guildford, Andrew Watson, leading the main Eucharist on Easter Day, 16 April. Past vicars and other people with a close connection to the church over the years will be invited.
There will be special services during the following weeks where people who have been baptised or married in the church are invited to come and renew their vows. The vicar, the Reverend Beverly Watson, would like to hear from anyone who wants to do so. (Click on image for video introduction)
Local schools and community groups will be invited to choose hymns for a special “Songs of Praise service, and the Bishop of Dorking, Jo Wells will preside at a confirmation service on Ascension Day.
The fifty days will finish with a family-friendly and informal “Worship for Everyone” service at Pentecost, 4 June, to which local community groups will also be invited, followed by a Hog Roast Picnic with entertainment in the church field.
Throughout the celebrations there will be a display in the church showing the history of its construction and use. There will also be a dedicated prayer area in the Holy Family Chapel for those wanting to offer thanks and prayers for the church.
The Vicar of All Saints’, the Revd Beverly Watson, said “We are a church that is firmly rooted in its local area, and we want to involve the community in our celebrations. We will give thanks for all the good memories of our past fifty years, and look forward to all that God has in store for us in the years ahead”.
